2025 Thunder Baseball Tryouts
The Ohio Thunder is holding tryouts for the 2025 season. The first step in joining our organization is to register. New and existing players are now about to register on the link below(no payment required). Parents will be contacted via email regarding date/time/field for individual age teams...please give coaches/coordinators a few days, after you register, to contact you.
Come be part of a team that values player development, competition, and having fun playing baseball. Based in Powell, we offer indoor training facilities, experienced coaches, and access to premier fields.
Our goal, as always, is to field multiple competitive teams at ages 7U-15U next season. This allows all players to get the most out of the Thunder experience while preparing for competition at higher levels.
Arrive approximately 30 minutes early to check in. Pre-registration is required. (Note: The registration process shows a "checkout" button, but there is no tryout fee.)
For tryouts held at Olentangy Liberty H.S., bring tennis shoes or turfs, as well as plastic cleats. No metal cleats, sunflower seeds, or gum are allowed at this facility, and no cleats are allowed inside the indoor hitting facility.

All tryouts will take place at the Olentangy Liberty High School baseball/softball complex. Please bring all equipment, dress in softball attire, and bring a water bottle. All pitchers should have someone who can catch for them. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we want to ensure a positive and smooth tryout experience with the appropriate number of tryout staff available.

Baseball Age Groups for 2025
Age groups for travel baseball is based on the player's age as of May 1.
For example, a player born on April 30, 2014, would be eligible to play 11U (or above) in 2025. A player born on May 1, 2014 would be eligible for 10U.

NOTE: Several baseball sanctioning bodies have introduced new rules allowing kids to play with their grade level, despite being born before the stated deadline.

These rules apply in most of the games our teams play - COYBL, USSSA, and Five Tool - but are not universal. Teams may play in tournaments that do not follow these rules, meaning that your player may not be eligible for a particular event.
The Thunder is generally supportive of this rule - enter both the age group you intend to try out for and your birthday on the registration form. However, please discuss your situation with your age group coach before accepting an offer.
